Organs for Research

Organ donations are not always for transplantation into living recipients.  Some are for scientific research to develop new treatments for disease conditions. Two examples would be brain donation to study Alzheimer's dementia, and eye donation to study macular degeneration.  Dr. Godfrey works cooperatively with researchers at several major university medical centers who arrange these donations with permission from the decedents' families, in hope for finding cures.
